You are an ESMA graduate and the Junior Art Director at Chipie. Do you owe a lot of your success to the school?
Caroline GOUILLAUD. Of course! The teachers at the ESMA give a lot of importance to developing our creativity. I think the school's strong point is the fact that it gives so much importance to helping each student discover his own artistic personality.  At the ESMA, students have a personal tutor. Everyone knows each other and people don't feel as though they are in a factory like you can feel at university, for example. There's a family spirit and I believe that's very important!  The course also helps you to open up to yourself and to others around you. Learning to listen to one's aspirations and those of one's environment is important in order to be creative and evolve in one's job.

How did you start off in the professional world?
C. G. I found a job quite quickly with a fashion designing team for a fashion label when I finished my studies at the ESMA. I wanted to work in textiles. It's thanks to the ESMA that I got this job! In fact the school phoned me to tell me there was a job which might interest me and that was it! I'll never forget that...

How do you feel about the course you did at the ESMA?
Christophe MALSERT. I'm particularly pleased with my career path which enabled me to master fields that were diverse but at the same time complementary. For example with the communication course there was a very good course in computer science, which is essential today when it is necessary to master new technologies for the job market. My BTS made me very polyvalent which is a capital asset when you set up your own company!

As an employer, how do you see the ESMA today?

What do you expect from the graphic artists who work at "Focus"?
