Applied arts foundation course (MANAA)

MONTPELLIER - TOULOUSE
COURSE STUDY TIME: 1 YEAR - STUDENT STATUS

The Foundation year provides a stepping stone to higher education. It is a year during which students have the opportunity to discover and orientate themselves. Even if talent is not taught on the curriculum, this year gives students the chance to "discover themselves" and master techniques which will help them to be creative. The apprenticeship depends on artistic and graphic workshops being set up, staffed by drawing and visual arts teachers. By decompartmentalising the artistic and general subjects, the foundation year offers flexibility and a synergy which is essential to the students' development.

Katie MONTANIER is a teacher at the ESMA. She teaches Visual Arts on the BTS Visual Communication course and Drawing on the Applied Arts Foundation course. Her role is particularly important during this year of apprenticeship and initiation which entails a real metamorphosis in the students' relationship with art and their own creativity.
